There are weddings that you remember not because something spectacular happened during them. They stay in your mind because of the atmosphere, the people and the emotions that accompany every moment shared together.
That’s exactly how I remember Basia and Mateusz’s wedding, which took place at the Czosnowski Palace. It was a day full of tranquillity, smiles and happiness – happiness that needed no grand words to be evident.
There’s a lot of talk about happiness. But as I watched Basia and Mateusz, I felt that there was no need to talk about it.
It was there in their glances, their smiles and their little gestures. In the way they looked at each other and how they savoured every moment of that day.
It is precisely these kinds of emotions that we love to capture on film the most. They are timeless and, years later, they come back with the same intensity.
The whole day – from the preparations, through the ceremony, right up to the reception – took place on the grounds of the Czosnowski Palace. This always gives the bride and groom greater peace of mind and allows them to celebrate the day without any unnecessary rush.
Basia and Mateusz opted for a civil ceremony. Although it was an official affair, there was still room for something very personal.
After exchanging their statutory vows, they shared a few more personal words with each other. They weren’t long, nor were they prepared with the audience in mind. They were simply sincere and meant solely for each other.
I like moments like these, because they remind us that even during a civil ceremony, you can create space for your own story and your own emotions.
The wedding reception was hosted by the duo Gramy w Tonie, but in this story, it wasn’t the course of the event that mattered most to me.
From the very start of the editing process, I wanted to focus on Basia and Mateusz’s emotions – on the glances, smiles and small gestures that passed between them throughout the day.
Not every wedding film needs to cover every single event. Sometimes it’s far more interesting to capture the atmosphere and the feelings that accompanied the bride and groom.
This film has its own rhythm. It doesn’t stem from the number of attractions or dynamic events, but from the emotions that guide the viewer from the very first frame to the very last.
Years later, we usually don’t remember every detail of our wedding day. What we do remember, however, is how we felt at the time.
That’s why, when editing, I always look for precisely those moments. Not just beautiful images, but above all genuine emotions that allow us to revisit that day exactly as it was.
Basia and Mateusz’s film is all about that.
About the happiness that’s more evident in their glances than in their words. About the small gestures that mean so much. And about the fact that the most beautiful stories often don’t need an elaborate script.
